The scope of surface treatment business is broadly divided into the three areas of plating chemicals, plating equipment and control systems.
Uyemura is one of only a few companies in the industry that develops business in all three of these areas.

Plating chemicals
Chemicals used to form a thin deposit of metal on the surface of a material, to give it various functions or decorativeness
Plating equipment
Equipment to efficiently advance the plating process on large amounts of material, or on materials that are difficult to plate on
Control systems
Systems to constantly analyze the state of the plating chemicals and perform the chemical replenishment or replacement
Research and development
About one quarter of the employees of Uyemura are researchers. When the engineers and machine designers are added to this, nearly half of the employees are engaged in development or technical support work. The Central Research Laboratory (Hirakata, Osaka) was established in 1968, ahead of the rest of the industry. It has a range of analysis equipment that enables sophisticated analysis and specialist materials and data that are unrivalled in Japan. It performs research and development on surface treatment technologies that integrate chemicals, mechanics and electronics.
Manufacturing
The Hirakata Plant was completed in 1968, in the same year as the Central Research Laboratory. It has a Chemical Plant that produces chemicals for plating such as functional plating chemicals and decorative plating chemicals, and a machinery plant that manufactures surface treatment equipment such as plating equipment and control systems. The Hirakata Plant implements thorough quality control and pollution prevention measures and has acquired ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certification for the entire plant.
Sales
Even after delivering products to customers, Uyemura cooperates closely with the production sites and the Uyemura sales and engineering staff work together to provide detailed technical support. In Japan, we have sales offices in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, and put full effort into supporting the manufacturing of our customers. We have also expanded overseas since the mid-1980s and provide support for customers that have production bases in the Pacific Rim area, with the same level of service as in Japan.
